A Simple Vow by Charlotte Hubbard

A Simple Vow

Charlotte Hubbard

Wow! A SIMPLE VOW by Charlotte Hubbard has just blown me away. So much mystery and suspense and that is not what I’m used to when reading Amish books. Charlotte Hubbard is quickly becoming one of my favorite Amish authors and A SIMPLE VOW is exactly why. She had me guessing who the babies father was all along and when it was finally revealed, I was shocked.

Edith Riehl happens upon two Amish men arguing all the while, a baby is crying and they aren’t concerned at all. Well, Edith steps into the buggy to comfort the upset child only to discover two babies, not one. She grabs them both and goes to confront the men. She is shocked to learn one of the men is Will, her sister Loretta’s ex-fiancé. The other man, Edith does not know, but she can’t help notice how handsome he is. She later learns he is Asa Detweiler, the man who the babies mother said she would always love, with her dying breath. Will was married to the babies mother, Molly. You can only imagine the conversation Will and Asa are having.

A SIMPLE VOW is the first book in Charlotte Hubbard’s new series, Simple Gifts. Charlotte includes characters from her other series and you can’t help but falling in love with them all. They are lovable and forgiving people and quickly, they become your old friends. If you are like me, you will be plowing through the pages quickly. You have to know who the father of the twins are and how Charlotte is going to bring this story to an end. The twists and turns will keep you from doing anything else besides reading this heart warming story.

Just when you think you have the mystery solved, A SIMPLE VOW takes a turn you never saw coming. My heart was breaking for Edith and Asa and the sorrow and disappointment they were feeling. Paternity tests are discouraged so how is Asa going to prove that he isn’t the twins father? Will anyone believe him? Will the community of Willow Ridge stand beside Asa or will the turn their backs on him? I can’t wait to continue with this exciting new series.
